MAMP - our revolutionary all analog design

Announcing the Dyna Dist Overdrive Series, all-analog Overdrive and Distortion pedals that put the power
of tone in your control. With the revolutionary MAMP design these effect pedals respond more
to your playing creating natural, harmonically rich, dynamic overdrive and distortion. They provide a wide
range of tone variations from classic overdriven, smooth "tube-type" Overdrive to massively powerful,
harmonically saturated, clipped edge Distortion - with enough gain to push any amp, tubes or solid state,
balls-to-the-wall.

FAQ:

Q: What is the MAMP design by itself, and what does it do for creating of Controlled Overdrive and
Distortion effects with wide tone varieties?

A: Here is what Ilitch has to say about MAMP: "I was trying to escape from all of the traditional methods
for overdriving and distorting of analog signals including Digital processing, Germanium or Silicon rectifying
diodes, Tube Screamer style circuit etc. I was confident, that there was a way to get to a design that allows
of controlling and manipulating the finest analog tone components of the electric guitar signal. The electrical
signal produced by a musical instrument (especially by a multiple-strings instruments such as the electric
guitar) is a very complex signal. The more components of that distinct creation are kept natural and
unaltered, the more successful is the electronic design. The overdriving and distorting process is a very
dangerous one – it is easy to loose most of the signal information.
Finally, after more than 7 years of experimenting and testing, I came up with a solution that takes a good
care for all of the important signal components and was capable to produce an intelligent and controlled
Overdrive and Distortion effect - the MAMP design. MAMP strongly keeps the original signal information
inside of the overdriven/distorted output signal. The order and the relations of this output signal components
are kept in the same way as they are originally related. With MAMP we can create any style of Overdrive
and Distortion including the legendary "TUBE style" and even more.
We know how the best overdriven guitar tone could be achieved: good speakers, more than 100W all tube
good amplifier, a nice guitar loaded with the right strings and pickups - All of these - all the way to the MAX
and of course - one good guitarist.
With the MAMP and Dyna Dist Overdrive series we offer that legendary sound either practicing in the bedroom
with 0.5W power or playing through 100W stacks on a stadium. All that with a good care for our lovely and
expensive “Mother Tube”, which we don’t need to “run to RED” anymore!"

Q: Why does MAMP design create superior Overdrive and Distortion tone?

A: Superior Overdrive and Distortion tone is the result of keeping the dynamics and components (harmonics,
time and phase relations) of the original signal intact. The electric guitar signal is a very natural and complex
signal. It contains many high order harmonic components, strongly related with the fundamental frequency.
The signal also contains a very complex natural phase shifting and time relationship of all its components.
In addition, the electric guitar signal has more than 80dB of dynamic range, which makes the task to overdrive
or distort such a signal even harder. Using any of the popular methods of "direct" distorting such as
with Op amps, Germanium transistors, Diodes, Digital signal processing, etc. results in the loss of the natural
and complex signal components, their time relations, phase shifting and dynamics. Some of these methods
lose up to 90% of the original guitar signal, masking the original tone of the guitar. This is why some overdrive
or distortion pedals sound "muddy", making a guitar with great tone sound like a guitar with lousy tone. With
the new MAMP design, all signal components are presented in the overdriven/distorted output. The result
is an overdriven/distorted output signal that contains the original harmonic components from the instrument
with their natural dynamics, time relation and phase shifting. You hear the tone of the guitar - not a distorted,
generic tone. The Dina Dist Overdrive at its DYNA mode responds dynamically to your input signal: pick softer
and/or turn your guitar volume down and the tone will clean up; play more aggressive and/or increase guitar
volume and the pedal will respond by more overdrive. Because the MAMP design also keeps all of the
components of your original guitar signal with the distorted signal, your leads will stand out with more
harmonic flavor, and your chords will have more character and clarity without getting muddy. While MAMP
can be used with any guitar, its value of retaining the original signal is most apparent when used with guitars
with great tone.
With MAMP design, the guitar's unique, natural tone can still be heard. The all-analog MAMP design also means
you get superior tone and consistent performance at all volume levels.
